Adele Mary (Paplauskas) Zalanskas, 93, formerly of West Newbury, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was a resident of the Halcyon House in Methuen.
Adele was born on May 8, 1921, in Hartford, Connecticut and was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Nursing in 1942.
She was employed at Mass Eye and Ear, Lynn Hospital and later as head nurse in the O.R. At Danvers State Hospital.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Victor J. Zalanskas and her son-in-law, Carl F. Thunstrom. Adele is survived by her daughter, Eileen Adele Thunstrom of Methuen; son, Robert V. Zalanskas and his wife Molly of Michigan; five grandchildren, Patricia Chaput and her husband James of Swampscott, Cheryl Thunstrom and her significant other Tim Harrington of Methuen, Kristin Thunstrom of Methuen, Joseph Zalanskas of Michigan and Jennifer Zalanskas of Boston; as well as four great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1 PM. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 PM.
