Maura J. (Perreira) Teixeira, 80, of New Bedford died Wednesday June 11, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Ralph S. Teixeira.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John B. and Florence (Gonsalves) Perreira, she lived in New Bedford all her life.
She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Teixeira was formerly employed at St. Luke's Hospital for almost 40 years, as a certified nursing assistant, mail clerk, and later at the patient information desk.
She was a member of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club.
Survivors include her husband; six children, Ronald Cruz, Julio Cruz, Nicholas Cruz, Valerie Smith, Corinne Teixeira and Ralph Teixeira, Jr.; a brother, John Perreira; a sister, Karen Gonsalves; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
