Obituary

GLOUCESTER: M. Eileen (Haskins) Gove, 71, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in Massachusetts General Hospital following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Gove who died in July of 1992.
Born in Gloucester on February 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Cooley) Haskins. She was a lifelong resident and graduate of the St. Ann High School class of 1960.
While the first of her children were young, she was employed by St. Ann Church as a secretary for the late Monsignor Sullivan for many years.
She loved to dance and as a child she took tap lessons and studied ballet under Alice Duffy. Eileen, along with her siblings, appeared on the television show Community Auditions and came in third place. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ at St. Ann Church.
As the mother of eleven and grandmother of ten, she was always supportive of all their endeavors and attended events ranging from baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, dance recitals and horse competitions, to cross country track. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
A loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Kevin M., husband of Donna Gove, Kathleen M. Gove-Carpenter, wife of Gary Carpenter, Colleen A. Gove, Tara L. Harting, companion of Robert W. Muise, Sean P. Gove, companion of Andrea Prentiss, Seamus C., husband of Kimberlena Gove,. Erin E. Gove, Bridget R. Pepin, Meghan E. Gove, companion of Rick Peek, Liam B. Gove, fiancé of Andrea Fox and Daniel F. Gove; ten grandchildren, Joshua Gove, Kaitlynn Gove, Molly and Jenna Carpenter, Robbie Harting, Zachary and Haley Pepin, Taylor Peek and Violet and Liam Gove. She is also survived by five sisters, Patricia, wife of Al Mineo, Kathleen, wife of Douglas Langley, Maureen Haskins, Terrie, wife of Larry White, and Sheila Chin; a brother P. Thomas, husband of Ligaya Haskins; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends, including, her lifelong best friend, Jeanne Smith.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Pleasant St., Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to family c/o Bridget R. Pepin, 18 Pine Rd., Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in Dolliver Memorial Cemetery, Gloucester.
