Obituary

BARE FOOT BAY, FL - Raymond L. Roux, 92, of Barefoot Bay, FL passed away at Clare Bridge Vero Beach, a Brookdale Senior Living community, in Vero Beach, FL on May 30, 2014.
A native of Laconia, Raymond was born April 29, 1922 to Pierre R. and Rose Anne (Maltais) Roux. Raymond was a World War II veteran having served with 10th Mountain Division.
Upon returning from active duty, Raymond joined his father and brothers in the family business - Roux Brothers - together they built many houses in Laconia. Raymond was also an active member of the Winnipesaukee Yacht Club, helped build their clubhouse and later served as Commodore. He was a Past Senior Vice Commander, American LegionWilkins Smith Post No 1 and a Past Senior Vice Commander, District #7, American Legion. Raymond was very proud to achieve the status of Eagle Scout and became very active with the Boy Scouts serving as a Scout Master.
In 1952, he moved his family to Meredith and purchased the Boyd Cabins, which were renamed Stel-Raye Cottages, on Pleasant Street. Raymond was active in his community, serving as its tax appraiser and rural mail carrier until his retirement from the U. S. Postal Service after serving 28 years. For fun, Raymond was a member of the Waukewan Golf Club, serving as a Range Master, had an acting role in the Village Players “A Close Shave” and was a member of the General Committee for the Bicentennial celebration. Raymond retired to Barefoot Bay, FL in 1982 where he continued to play golf and tennis.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Leo, Armand, Robert and Philip. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Stella (Cormier) Roux, daughter, Kathryn J. Forristall-King, Vero Beach, FL; son, Francis R. Roux and wife Nancy, Cambridge, MD; son, John P. Roux and wife Brenda, Alachua, FL; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and his sister, Madeline McGrath, and husband, Patrick, Laconia, NH.
A memorial service was held June 5, 2014 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Micco, FL. Interment will be held at a later date at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Laconia, NH.
