Obituary

Bobbie Laverne Hayes Gobel our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, sister and aunt went home to rest on Saturday, May 10th 2014 at Sunnyside Community Hospital.
She was raised in Naches, WA and lived the last sixteen years in Prosser, WA.
Bobbie is survived by her most loving and devoted husband and best friend of 47 years, Rancy Gobel of Prosser; sons, Ernest Hanson (Julie) of Glendale, AZ, Paul Hanson of Outlook, John Hanson (Debra) of Outlook and Mike Gobel (Maria) of Grandview; daughter-in-law, Pedrita Hanson of Prosser; daughter, Dawn Bell of NC, Susan Beach of Concrete, WA, Anna Boggs (Jerry) of Prosser and Helen Smith (Ralph) of Grandview; 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Richardson of Kennewick, Dixie Schreiber of Naches and Peggy Sexton of Port Orchard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Jean Hanson; son, Bobby Joe Hanson; grandson, Johnny Ray Hanson Jr.; mother, Hazel Laverne Brown; father, Woodrow Hays; and step-father, Cleo Brown.
Bobbie loved growing flowers, although she could seldom enjoy them in her home due to allergies. She had several different varieties of tulips, daffodils, iris, and mini roses among a huge variety of other flowers and roses. Her favorite flowers were carnations and her favorite color was purple.
Bobbie could not always get around to see everyone but she faithfully called almost all of her children and sisters throughout the day and week to stay up to date on weather, children, spouses, flowers and our lives in general. Those calls are already missed.
Bobbie could hardly stand to wear shoes (any time of the year) so barefoot or moccasins were always first choice and never socks.
Bobbie was the hardest worker you’ll ever meet and instilled that quality in all of her children.
Memories of (always) homemade food like cabbage bread, rhubarb crunch, homemade noodles, baked goods and canned fruits and vegetables that cannot be written in a recipe are abundant.
She could do her canning over a camp fire, make a simple meal one of the best memories you’ll ever have and welcome friends, neighbors, and family into her home with ease.
She’s now in no more sorrow or no more pain. She’s not tired anymore, but young, happy, and healthy.
She got to spend Mother’s Day in Heaven with her daughter, son, and mother. Their gain is our loss, but oh what a celebration that must have been.
There are a lot of things about Bobbie that will be missed but above all will be her laugh.
