Obituary

Edward J. Fitzgerald, age 89, of Brockton, died Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Braemoor Health Center. He was the loving husband of the late Felicia (Ciccolo) Fitzgerald. Ed was born and raised in Everett, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Kitchen) Fitzgerald. He was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1943 and attended Northeastern University. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and had been a guard for POW’s in both England and France. For over 39 years he had been employed by Schrafft’s Candy Company in Charlestown and retired after 25 years from Shaw’s Supermarket on the east side of Brockton. Ed was a longtime member of the Masons Mount Vernon-Galilean Lodge and Shriners.
Ed is survived by his children Catherine M. Mallard and her husband Kenneth, Michael J. Malcolm and his wife Maryanne and Linda J. Callahan and her husband James all of Brockton and Lois A. Reid and her husband Rick of West Bridgewater; 14 loving grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Janet M. Terrill; grandfather of the late Robert P. Terrill and brother of the late Arthur Fitzgerald, Annie Alice Barry, Jean Zackular, Agnes Leona Fitzgerald and Emma Elsie Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-7pm followed by a funeral service at 7pm. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
