Obituary

Joanne M. (Lomasney) Roche, age 81, of Brockton, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. For fifty-nine years she was the devoted wife of Edward Roche. Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Mahoney) Lomasney. She had been a resident of Brockton since 1960. Joanne had attended St. Mark School and graduated from Archbishop Cushing Central High School in 1950 and Boston State College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Education. Joanne retired as the Principal of St. Edward School in Brockton.
Joanne had been a member of the Catholic Mother’s Club of Brockton, a CCD teacher, and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Good Samaritan Medical Center. In her free time she enjoyed reading and travelling. Most importantly she was devoted to her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Edward Roche Jr. and his companion Laura White of Contoocook, NH, Anne Andrea and her husband Daniel of Holbrook and Joseph Roche and his companion Pamela DiFiore of North Attleboro; three grandchildren Stephen Roche, Robert Andrea and Timothy Andrea. She is also survived by a former daughter-in-law Donna Bisson Roche of Plymouth and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
