Obituary

John P. Fitzpatrick, 95, of Franklin, died peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Forge Hill Senior Living in Franklin.

Born in Milford on February 1, 1919, he was the son of the late John P. and Elizabeth (Boyle) Fitzpatrick.

A lifelong resident of Franklin, John served in the Army during WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant. During his military service, he was responsible for major communication networks throughout the war zone.

Upon release from his military duties, he returned to the telephone company and advanced to a management position and retired in 1981.

His interest included golf, big band music and lasting friendships with many.

John was a member of the Franklin Country Club, the Franklin Senior Citizens, the Franklin Elks, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion Post 225 in Wrentham and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Franklin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert T. Fitzpatrick and his wife Gladys.

He is survived by his longtime friend Peter Steeves of Franklin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Tuesday, June 10 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
