Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late William H. and Mary F. (Dunn) Barter, she lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Mrs. Kocur was formerly employed as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital. While in high school, she worked at the Star Store where her father was manager.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her life revolved around her family. She was an avid reader, traveler, and knitter. She knitted hats for premature babies in St. Luke's Hospital Nursery for many years. She also produced numerous hats that benefitted many people throughout the world.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Steven Kocur and his wife Nancy of Dartmouth, Jeffrey Kocur of Mattapoisett, and Patricia Pierce and her husband Robert Jr. of Acushnet; six grandchildren, Ashley Kocur-Pierpont and her husband Ben, Amanda McQuillan, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Randall, and Jessica Kocur; her sisters-in-law, Joanna Wojtkunski and Wanda Mitzan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late William, John, and James Barter.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Dartmouth.
