Obituary

Mary E. DeNicola, 77, died May 17, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital. The former Mary Barton of Louisville, she taught at Pitt Learning Center from 1981-91 and was also involved with Special Olympics through the center. She loved teaching and was especially gifted at working with special needs children. She was a member of MENSA, an Ursuline Associate, sang for a time in the Cathedral of the Assumption Choir, and was the recipient of the Jefferson Award and the 1995 Bell Award for Outstanding Community Service from the WLKY Spirit of Louisville Foundation. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Lose, Louisville, KY, Regina Eastridge (Ed “Buddy”), Chicago, IL, Edward DeNicola, Jeffersonville, IN, Rebecca Moehling, LT COL (ret.) (Mike), Panama City, FL, James DeNicola (Margaret), Louisville, KY; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Thank you to the doctors and staff at Clark Memorial Hospital and a very special thank you to Jesse and the entire staff at Green Valley Care Center. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, June 7th, with funeral service starting at 12 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ursuline Sisters, 3105 Lexington Rd., 40206.
