Irene L. "Rennie" (Dowling) Warner, a 72 year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 88 years old.
Rennie was born in Tewksbury on June 16, 1925, a daughter of the late Thomas Dowling and Hazel A. (Brooks) Dowling. Her parents moved back to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where she grew up and was educated. At the age of 16, Rennie moved back to Charlestown and has lived the remainder of her life there. Rennie worked for many years as a Matron for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston court houses. She enjoyed gardening, watching the Boston Red Sox and most of all traveling to Mohegan Sun.
Rennie is the beloved wife of the late Richard J. "Richie" Warner. She is the devoted mother of Donna Lane-Hickey and her husband Michael of Medford, Karen Connolly of Charlestown and mother-in-law of Michael Connolly of Tewksbury. She is the loving Nana to Christy Merullo and her husband Christopher of Melrose, Jill Connolly of Tewksbury, Stacy Connolly of Tewksbury and Ma to Gabriella Rose Merullo of Melrose and her favorite man Jack Merullo of Melrose. She is the dear sister of Dolly "Betty" Williams of Wakefield, John Dowling and his wife Gina of Salem, New Hampshire, Richard Dowling and his wife Kathleen of Dorchester and the late Thomas "Sonny" Dowling Jr., Robert "Bobby" Dowling and Evelyn "Terry" Juliano. She is Auntie Rennie to many nieces and nephews and God Mother to Mary Juliano of Everett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rennie's visiting hours on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1 to 5 P.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 5 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be private.
