Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD - Ralph P. Dahdah, 82, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield comforted by his loving family and friends. He was born in Springfield on September 8, 1931, a beloved son of the late Peter J. and Lila (Harbey) Dahdah. He was raised in Springfield where he lived for many years before moving to West Springfield around 1995. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Airman First Class and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and was employed at the former Colonial Market and the Albert Steiger Company. He was last employed at the Kawie Tool Supply Company in East Hartford, Ct. Ralph was a member of the American Legion in Boston and was a lifelong communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. During his leisure time, Ralph enjoyed the company of his family and his many friends. He was the driver for his family and was often seen smoking a good cigar. He leaves his loving brother and best friend, Joseph W. Dahdah of West Springfield with whom he lived and many cherished cousins, friends, nephews, nieces, and extended members of the Dahdah and Harbey families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving brothers and sisters, Nelson P. Dahdah, Henry J. Dahdah, Rose M. Dahdah, Mary Darnell and Anna Busker. His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. His burial with US Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
