Obituary

SPENCER: Jay J. Gordon 64, of Charlton Rd., died suddenly, Tuesday, June 3 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Andrea L. (Menard) Gordon, his son Patrick J. Gordon of Washington, DC., four brothers John J. Gordon, Sr. and his wife Elinor, Jerald Gordon and his wife Elaine, James Gordon, and Jan Gordon and his wife Jeanne, his sister Judith Vitkos and her husband James all of Spencer, his mother in law Clorina Watters of Spencer and sister in law Jane White of Melrose, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Joseph and Jeffrey Gordon and a sister Joyce Gildert.

Jay was a district manager for Keyspan Energy, formerly Boston Gas Co. for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Most recently he was plant manager at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph and Helen (Barrett) Gordon and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1967. He attended the former Alden Business School in Worcester. He served his country with the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish and the Spencer Fish & Game Club.

Jay was an avid golfer playing in several area golf leagues including the Massasoit League and “Pit’s Crew” Golf League at Quail Hollow. He enjoyed working in his yard.

The funeral for Jay, will be held on Saturday, June 7 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 9:30a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.
