Obituary

Worcester - Cosmo H. Giumentaro, 88, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus after an extended illness. He leaves his wife of over 63 years, Jennie M. (Grillo) Giumentaro; sons, Joseph L. Giumentaro of Worcester and Stephen Giumentaro and his wife Chrystal of CT; sister, Norma J. Blanchard of Auburn; brothers, Louis and his wife Norma L. Giumentaro and Raymond and his wife Joanne - all of Shrewsbury. He also leaves four grandchildren, Leah Cutrona, Margaret Giumentaro, Stephen J. Giumentaro, and Robert S. Giumentaro; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and extended family. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Giumentaro and Robert Giumentaro.

He was born in Worcester, son of Italian immigrants, Marie (D'Amato) and Joseph Giumentaro. He was an Army veteran of WWII and retired from the Telegram & Gazette where he was a photo engraver. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Worcester and enjoyed watching football and baseball.

A graveside service will be held at St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester, at 11a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014. There are no calling hours. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
