Gilford----It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Richard John Foley son of Nellie and Richard Foley, who passed on June 1, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Hospital, Burlington, Vermont
Richard was born in Hanover, NH in 1928. He graduated high school in Concord, NH and went on to study at Bentley College. After graduation, Richard served his county in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Trieste, Italy. He married Mary Alice Hillmer and they started their family in New York. He was a corporate officer for Dart and Kraft Industries and was transferred to Illinois.
Richard always kept his ties to New Hampshire with a summer home in Gilford on Lake Winnipesaukee which was where he and Mary retired. During his retirement he was proud to be part of the Marine Patrol on the lake he loved. He also sat on the Gilford Zoning Board.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lou Baraw and son-in- law, Scot, and grandchildren Jake, and Jenna.
Calling hours will be Sunday June 8, 2014 from 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, N.H.
Following the burial, a luncheon, overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee, will be held.
The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Army of Austin Angels, Amy Beaudoin in care of Bank of New Hampshire 62 Pleasant St. Laconia NH 03246. Richards’s neighbor, who has been so good to him and looked after him as he has aged, has a 5 year old grandson battling brain cancer and the Army of Austin’s Angels will directly benefit Austin and his family.
