Mary Ruth Walker, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Heritage Health Care in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Robert Chaudoin, the Rev. John K. Mobley and the Rev. Steve Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Walker was born September 14, 1924 in Irwin County to the late Homer and Ethel Mercier Day. She graduated from high school in Irwin County and attended a business college in Atlanta. She was a homemaker and a seamstress for Halperin’s Department Store in Fitzgerald. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Larry & Glenda Walker, Dianne Bullard and Barbara & Randy Merritt; a grandson: Ray & Leigh Walker; two great-grandsons: Dylan & Nikki Walker and Triston Walker; one great-great grandson: Caleb Walker, all of Fitzgerald and a sister: Thelma & Rip Laminack of Bonaire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: R.M. “Bob” Walker; a son-in-law: Johnny Bullard, a brother: Thomas Day and a sister: Marlene Wellborn.
