Holden, MA - Gloria M. "Glo" (Nyberg) Kauppila, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014 after a brief stay at the Lutheran Home in Worcester. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Axel and Olga (Peterson) Nyberg. She graduated from Commerce High School and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Holden.
Her husband, Tyko K. Kauppila, passed away in 1990. She leaves two sons - Lee K. Kauppila and his wife Melody of VT and Todd A. Kauppila of Rutland; four grandchildren - Nissa, Eric, Jon, and Owen Kauppila; and nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Martin Johnson and her life-long, best-friend Evelyn C. Anderson.
Glo was a fun-loving woman with a kind and gentle heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved animals. She worked at Paul Revere Life Insurance Company for 27 years, where she was a member of the Alpha Club. She was also an honorary member of the Finnish American Club and was a member of the Victory Bowling League for 50 plus years, bowling well into her 80's.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. Burial will be private at a later date.
