New Bedford – Maria A. Alcaidinho, age 88 of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was the widow of Carlos M. Alcaidinho and the daughter of the late Maria Jose (daRocha) and Manuel Cabral Melo. She was born in St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in 1967 and was employed at The Cliftex Corp. as a Stitcher.
She is survived by 3 sons: Florimundo Alcaidinho and his wife Lucia, Carlos Alcaidinho and his wife Merinia and Manuel Alcaidinho all of New Bedford, 5 grandchildren; Philip, Ryan, and Nathaniel Alcaidinho, Kathy Oliveira and Kristy Daube, great grandchildren Lucas Oliveira, Trent Daube, Amelia Alcaidinho and Logan Oliveira.
Her funeral will be Friday, May 30, 2014 beginning in the funeral home at 11 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
