Obituary

Sarah E. Valentine, 15, of Westport peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston, due to complications from Trisomy 18. She was the daughter of Michael R. and Kathryn B. (Velozo) Valentine of Westport.
Being born with Trisomy 18 presented Sarah with many uphill battles throughout her life but she courageously fought through each and every challenge that was placed before her. She was strong, caring and full of life, always inspiring others and she had a great sense of humor. Sarah was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport.
Survivors along with her parents include her maternal grandparents: Dennis M. and Betty (Eastwood) Velozo of Westport; her paternal grandmother: Pauline M. (Dupont) Valentine of Tiverton and the late Richard Valentine; a sister: Lauren N. Valentine of Westport; her godfather: Michael Velozo and his wife Nicole; her godmother: Sharon Desrosiers; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to thank all of the devoted caregivers that Sarah had throughout the years.
Celebration of Sarah’s life to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 P.M.
Interment will be private.
