Obituary

L. Michael Robinson, 73, of Slatersville, Rhode Island died peacefully on May 24, 2014.

Michael was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of the late Leo and Catherine (Dwyer) Robinson; brother of the late Mary Ellen Robinson, and the late Eileen Sweeney. Michael grew up in Kensington, CT, and then was a longtime resident of Madison, CT.

Michael graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain, Connecticut in 1958. Michael attained the rank of Eagle Scout with three palms as a member of Troop 24, Kensington, CT. He attended the Hartford School of Accounting, and then served in the U. S. Army. After discharge, he began work in the U.S. Postal Service, followed by a career in advertising. He also proudly served as a volunteer with the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department. He received the honors of the Third Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3675.

Michael was an active volunteer and leader in the Connecticut Jaycees, holding the offices of Chapter State Director, External Vice President, East District Membership Coordinator and State Spoke Chairman. He received numerous Jaycee awards, including State Spoke of the Year, National Presidential Award of Merit, and Outstanding State Director.

Michael is survived by his four children; daughters Catherine (Jeff) Hall of North Smithfield, RI; Kelley (Joseph) Liptak of Narragansett, RI; Kerry Robinson of Narragansett, RI; and son Michael (Catherine) Robinson of South Kingstown, RI; eight grandchildren – Erin, Bridget, Robin, Adam, Mark, Michael, Matthew, and Leah.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 3, from 4-7PM. in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville,RI. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4 at Christ The King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, RI at 11:00 a.m., with a private burial at a later time in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s honor to the of the Boy Scouts of America, Narragansett Council, 10 Risho Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.
