CHICOPEE – Jeannette R. (Allain) Tessier, 89, a longtime resident of Chicopee and Queen Valley, Arizona, was Called Safely Home on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in West Rutland, Massachusetts on December 7, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Henry J. and Jeanne (Beauchemin) Allain. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, graduated from the former Rosary High School in Holyoke and lived in the city for most of her life. Since 1992, Jeannette and her late husband, Roger, were snowbirds in Queen Valley, Arizona where they made many friends. She was the bookkeeper for over 30 years at the family business, Tessier Lumber Company in Holyoke. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a volunteer at the Knights of Columbus in Chandler, Arizona, a member of the Queen Valley Golf Club Association and the Queen Valley Bowling League. During her leisure time, Jeannette enjoyed playing cards, dominos and pinochle with her many friends. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Roger E. Tessier who was Called Home on August 15, 1998. They were married on September 18, 1945 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. She was also predeceased by her loving son, Ronald G. Tessier who was Called Home on February 15, 1996; her two dear brothers, Paul Allain and Henry Allain; and her sister, Leona Choquette. She leaves her five loving children, Earl R. Tessier of Chicopee, Paul E. Tessier and his wife, Barbara, of South Hadley, Jean A. Tessier of Ormond Beach, FL, Anne M. Taylor and her husband, Maurice, of Mico, TX, and Diane M. Seaver of Troy, NY; her loving daughter-in-law, Brenda Tessier Winters and her husband, George, of Easthampton; her 12 cherished grandchildren; her 12 cherished great-grandchildren; her dear sister-in-law, Ruth Maslak of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Tessier and Allain families. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, May 30, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, May 30, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. before the Mass.
