SALEM - Catherine Ann (Raineri) Vitello, 89, wife of the late Carl Vitello, died Sunday evening, May 25, 2014, with family by her side. She was tenacious courageous and inspirational; she will be missed.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Francis (Pagano) Raineri, and one of 10 children.
Prior to her retirement, Catherine was employed as a seamstress for many years for Madison Sportswear Co., Inc. in the garment district in Boston.
She was a resident of Winthrop for many years where she was a parishioner of the Holy Rosary Parish. She has been a resident of Salem for the past ten years.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Annette Vitello of Salem and with whom she resided, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter Vitello of Salem, Anthony and Christina Vitello of Winthrop, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, including Alex Noe of Salem, two brothers, John Raineri of Somerville, Michael Raineri of Dedham, and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was Honorary Mother to all the OBOO’s and their families. She was predeceased by seven siblings.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Rosary Parish, 1015 Shirley St., Winthrop. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial is in Winthrop Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Aviv Centers for Living in Peabody or Care Dimensions (formerly Hospice of the Northshore) in Danvers.
