NATICK: Edwin W. Fosberg, age 86, of Natick, died on Sunday, May 25, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was the loving husband of Catherine L. (Flaherty) Fosberg, who died on the 16th of this month, for 67 years.
Son of the late Edwin and Margaret (Jones) Fosberg, Ed was raised and educated in Natick. He left high school to join the US Navy and served proudly as a carpenter’s mate with the Seabees in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre for the duration of World War II.
Ed joined his father and brother before him as a linotype operator and was employed with the Wellesley Press until his retirement. He was happiest when he was with Catherine, enjoying their home and large extended family.
He is survived by their children, Dennis Fosberg and his wife Mary Lou, Christine Lundblad, Cathie MacGregor and her husband Jason, and the late Cynthia Fosberg. Catherine and Edwin also raised Joseph Wagstaff of CA. He was the beloved grandfather of Dennis R. Fosberg, George Towne, Derek Fosberg, Patrick Towne, Shannon O’Donnell, Jason MacGregor, Lorissa Coughlin, Leigh Tocio, Jill Guigli and the late Erik Lundblad, great-grandfather of 23, among them the late Julia Anne Fosberg, and great great-grandfather of Erik. Brother of the late Robert Fosberg, he is also survived by brothers Charles Fosberg and his wife Norma, and Paul Fosberg and his wife Marsha, sister-in-law Rita Flaherty, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, May 30th at 9:00A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street at Natick Common, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00 A.M.
Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M
Interment with military honors will be at St Patrick Cemetery.
