NATICK: Brice E. Zwicker, age 100, a longtime Natick resident and Master Electrician, died peacefully on Friday afternoon, May 23, 2014, at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the devoted husband of Elaine G. (Weilant) Zwicker, for 66 years.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, he was a son of the late Allister and Lucinda Catherine (Zwicker) Zwicker. Brice left high school to help his aunt and uncle maintain their farm and remained until the outbreak of World War II. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and specialized as an airplane mechanic for the duration of the war. He then returned to school studying to be an electrician.
Brice spent his journeyman years in Detroit, where he lived and worked with one of his brothers. While there he met Elaine, who had traveled from Natick to visit friends they shared in common. After marrying in 1948 and settling in Natick, Brice worked for several years as an electrical contractor. He later worked for Ford and then Chrysler from whom he retired as a master electrician in 1976. He volunteered as a driver for the American Red Cross well into his 80s. Brice and Elaine also enjoyed trips to Nova Scotia to visit relatives and particularly venturing out to Washington State to see their daughter.
Elaine; their son, Ronald B. Zwicker of Framingham, and their daughter, Nancy E. Zwicker of Ravensdale, WA, survive him. Predeceased by his 10 siblings, he was also an uncle and granduncle to many.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jon C. Strand, Rector of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, on Friday, May 30th at 9:00AM at Dell Park Cemetery, 183 Pond Street, Natick. Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, Natick, on Thursday 6 – 8PM.
