Obituary

Harold Paul Geibel of Mystic passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 24, 2014 at home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (McCree)Geibel.

Harold was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, son of the late Harry A and Anna (Schmidt)Geibel, and the brother of the late Joan Echols and late Doris Alicchio.

He is survived by his only son, Dr. John Geibel and his wife Annemarie of Branford, two grandsons, Peter Geibel and his wife Christina, Rainer Geibel and his fiancée, Janine.

Following his service in World War II he returned to Mystic where he spent the remainder of his life, running the family business of the historical Rossie Velvet Mill. Later in life he worked at Electric Boat in Groton CT, and was chairman of the board of the Mystic Savings and Loan.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, May 28, at St. Patrick Church, Mystic, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at St.Patrick Cemetery, River Road, Old Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven CT.
