Mary A. (Correira) Tavares, 93, of New Bedford died May 18, 2014 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Tavares.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Maria C. (Moniz) Correira, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Tavares was a communicant of the former St. John the Baptist Church.
She was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for 30 years until her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Tavares of New Bedford; a grandson, Gregg Tavares of Winston-Salem, NC; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 Godchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Private Graveside Service was held Wednesday, May 21st in Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remebrances may be made to the Salvation Army, 619 Purchase St. New Bedford, MA 02740.
