Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: Karl Anthony, 91, died peacefully and comfortably on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham.
He was born Anthony John Kowalewski on March 1, 1923 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Theresa (Neimic) Kowalewski and John Kowalewski.
He was the father of Wayne Anthony and Glenn Anthony of Natick and Joyce (Anthony) White and her husband Dan White of Tempe, AZ. Grandfather of Carla Dominguez of Framingham, Carra Dominguez of Holliston and Carissa Dominguez of Smithtown, NY. Great-grandfather of Carlos and Steven Dominguez of Framingham and Antonio and Emilio Araujo of Holliston. Also survived by his former spouse Helen (Bois) Anthony Monkewicz of Natick. Brother of the late Eugine Kowalewski of Manchester, NH and his long time companion and friend Ruth “Lady” Lay of Clifton, NJ who predeceased him.
Karl was a graduate of Manchester High School in Manchester, NH and then went on to the New York City Art School of Fine Arts in New York City, NY. He spent many years in the newspaper and graphic design industry including Art Color in Dunellen, NJ for 35 years and Direct Gravure in Nutley, NJ as a Photo Engraver. He also held positions in the communities that he lived in, such as past president of the Dunellen , NJ Rescue Squad; Chairman of the Dunellen 75th Anniversary Committee; Councilman of Dunellen, NJ; Little League manager in Dunellen, NJ and Little League Manager of the Art Color Yankees for 12 years. More recently he was the president of the Clifton Senior Center before moving to Massachusetts three years ago. He also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. Karl had a memorable personality to all that had met or known him and said that he was a caring and loving man and will always be remembered. He was an avid Red Sox and New York Giants fan and in his younger years, he enjoyed going to the horse race tracks in New Jersey.
Visitations will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Funeral services and burial will be private for his family.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, POB 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
