Quigley, Robert P. Jr., of Middleborough, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on Monday with his loving wife by his side at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a long battle with porphyria. He was 59. The son of Doris (Gadoury) and the late Robert P. Quigley Sr., Mr. Quigley was born and raised in Dorchester and educated in Boston public schools. Mr. Quigley served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he met and married his wife Okcha. Mr. Quigley was a Marshfield police officer for 32 years, and served as the department’s school resource officer in the Marshfield Public Schools. He will be missed by the kids, teachers and administrators for his diligent, thoughtful and always friendly service, looking out for kids who were picked on and keeping everyone on the straight and narrow. He initiated and served as an instructor in the town’s DARE program. Mr. Quigley was commended for his exemplary service on several occasions. He also often volunteered his services to community groups. Mr. Quigley is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Okcha (Pak) Quigley; his mother Doris (Gadoury) Quigley of Plymouth; and his sister Gail Lane and her husband Doug of Plymouth; and two nieces.
Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield on Thursday, May 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, May 23 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Christine’s Church, 1295 Main St., Rte. 3A in Marshfield at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Couch Cemetery in Marshfield.
