Obituary

Leslie H. Johnson, 99, passed away in Knollwood Nursing Center, Sunday, May 18, 2014. His wife of 68 years, Lorraine E. (Loeffler), died in 2010. He leaves two sons, Douglas L. Johnson and his wife Viola of Vermont and Donald G. Johnson and his wife Janet A. of New Hampshire; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family for whom his humor, courtesy, and sense of fairness are models of behavior.

Leslie was born in Worcester, son of Nancy E. (Swanson) and Oscar H. Johnson. He graduated from North High School in 1932 and New England School of Accounting in 1934. He was a WWII Army veteran. Les worked at Heald Machine Co., for 43 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its choir, Greendale Retired Men's Club and its choir, and the Mendelssohn Singers.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Tuesday, May 27, at 12 noon. Please omit flowers; donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Endowment Fund. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
