Frances V. Dowd, 91, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Parkland Medical Center of Derry. She was born on February 9, 1923 in Caribou, ME, a daughter of the late Richard and Emma (Gagne) Lessard. Mrs. Dowd was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA where she lived for many years prior to moving to Danville, NH in the late 1980’s. She was employed by the IRS in Andover, MA, as well as Western Electric in N. Andover and Raytheon in Andover. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
She is survived by her two sons, John P. Dowd and wife Teresa, and Dennis Dowd, both of Derry; two granddaughters, Laurie Mullen and Melanda Josephson, also both of Derry; four great grandchildren, Amber and Ally Josephson and Lennon and Philip Mullen; one brother, Earland Lessard of Punta Gorda, FL, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John R. Dowd, and Daughter-in-Law Sandra K. Dowd.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, May 21st at 11:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA.
