Obituary

Gilbert A. Gosselin, 84, of Manchester died May 15, 2014 after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester on June 18, 1929, he was the son of Emile and Alphonsine (Kirouac) Gosselin. He was educated in the local school system.
Prior to retirement several years ago, he had been employed part-time by Toyota in Manchester. Previously, he had been a police officer in the city and also worked at Brook Farm Foods and Aubin Hardware. He and his wife also co-owned Standard Fruit in Manchester for many years.
Always active in his community, Gil held memberships in both the Knights of Columbus as well as the Alhambra Club. Above all else, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who cherished time spent with family.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Jeannine Amlaw in 2011 and infant son Raymond Gosselin. He was also predeceased by his sister Marcel McMahon and brother Germain Gosselin.
He leaves his wife of 64 years Lorraine (Hemond) Gosselin of Manchester; one daughter, Denise Kassapis and husband Vange of Ocala, FL; his son-in-law, Robert Amlaw of Manchester; grandchildren, Steven Amlaw and husband David Schumaker, Lisa Amlaw, Scott Kassapis and wife Emily; a great-granddaughter, Alaina Amlaw; nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in the Parish of Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Alsace Streets. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
