New Bedford – Albertina Fraga, age 80 of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. She was the widow of Tarciso A. Fraga and the daughter of Maria do Rosario (da Luz) and Manuel Soares Lopes. She was born in Lagoa, São Miguel, Açores, moved to this country in 1969 and was employed at The Jewish Convalescent Home in the house keeping department.
She is survived by 3 siblings: Almerinda Sousa and Maria da Luz Pacheco, both of New Bedford, and Manuel Soares Lopes of São Miguel, Açores; as well as several nieces and nephews in this area.
Her funeral will be Thursday, May 22 beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
