Dartmouth – Noemia C. Faria, 96, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the loving wife of the late Francisco Faria, and daughter of the late Angelica (Garcia) and Joaquim Estacio Correia. Mrs. Faria was born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, moved to this country in 1961 and worked as a stitcher for the Cliftex Corporation. Mrs. Faria enjoyed knitting and writing poems.
Noemia is survived by her daughter: Maria Garcia, wife of Manuel, of Dartmouth; 2 grandchildren: Christine, wife of Jimmy Amaral, James, husband of Lynne Garcia; 3 great grandchildren Kayla and Kyle Garcia, Joseph Mawhinney; sister: Angelica Arriaga, all of Dartmouth, as well as several nieces, nephews and god children.
Mrs. Faria was predeceased by several siblings.
The Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth.
Her funeral will be Monday, May 19 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home Sunday evening from 4 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
