E. Edwin Harsch, 80

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

E. Edwin Harsch, age 80, of Mansfield passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Croumey) Harsch to whom he was wed on June 27, 1959.
Born in St. Francis, Kansas on May 31, 1933. He was a loving son of the late William B. and Anna (Lauer) Harsch.
Ed grew up in St. Francis, Kansas and was a graduate of St. Francis High School. He furthered his education; receiving his B.S. from the University of Kansas, and later his M.E.D. from Northeastern University and his M.A.T. from Cornell University.
Prior to retiring in 1993, Mr. Harsch had taught Chemistry and Physics for 34 years at Mansfield High School.
Ed had lived in Mansfield for the past 54 years and was an active member of the Congregational Church of Mansfield; where he served on numerous committees throughout the years.
His favorite times spent were those with his family. His interests included traveling, and woodworking. Ed was also a talented baker and will always be remembered for his exceptional homemade breads and pizza.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters; Kathy Harsch of Alaska and Nancy Harsch and her husband Bruce Pence of Seattle. He was the dear brother of Josephine Schuette and her husband David of Missouri and is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 11:00 in the Congregational Church of Mansfield, 17 West St., Mansfield. Burial will be private.
