Obituary

Bobbie Jean Harper, 72, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at her residence.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Harper was born August 29, 1941, in Dublin, Georgia to the late Clyde and Floy Bran Sawyer. She was a former textile worker for Modern Fibers and Shaw Industries. She also worked at Life Care Center and The Herald-Leader. She was a cook for the residents at Shiloh in Ocilla. Mrs. Harper enjoyed meeting with her friends on Mondays for sewing quilts at Irwinville Methodist Church. Their quilts were sent to a girls home. She loved singing karaoke and dancing. Her sewing group, The Seven Sisters, would attend quilt shows together. She won several awards for her quilts at the Georgia Agrirama.

She is survived by her three children: Julie Ann Harper of Fitzgerald, Charles David Harper of Fitzgerald, and Cheryl Harper Kinnett of Texas; five grandchildren: Chris A. Pope, Jr., Michael C. Pope, Whitney Costa, Matt Costa, and Steven Costa; and five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Evan, Tyler, and Anzleigh Reliford and Kelbie Costa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Charles Harper.
