Obituary

GROVELAND: Marie Louise Lynch, 94, died, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in her home at Nichols Village.
Born in Peabody on August 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Mary (O’Keefe) Lynch. Marie resided in Danvers most of her life until she and her sister relocated to Groveland ten years ago. A graduate of Danvers High School, she graduated from Calvin Coolidge College and received her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University. She had also attended Essex Agricultural & Technical School.
Marie became a teacher and taught at several elementary schools in Danvers, Saltonstall School in Salem and Salem State College. She loved children and taught religion at St. Mary’s Church. She also enjoyed working at the Danvers playgrounds and summer camps for many years.
Marie was an officer in the Danvers Historical Society and a member of the Peabody Jr. Women’s Club. She traveled extensively through most of the United States and Canada. She also traveled with her sister, Eileen to visit their brother, James in Germany and also visited Ireland, England, Italy, France, Holland and Switzerland.
She is survived by her sister, Eileen M. Lynch and was predeceased by her brother, James E. Lynch.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in the Carmelite Monastery, 15 Mount Carmel Road, Danvers at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Annunciation Cemetery in Danvers.
