Mrs. Mary M. (DeFreitas) deAguiar Pelaso, of Temecula, Calif., and formerly of Taunton, died Friday, May 9 in the Rancho Springs Hospital, Murietta, Calif., following complications from surgery. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pelaso and the late Mario deAguiar. She was born 75 years ago in Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio and Julia (Fortuna) DeFreitas. She was educated in Portugal, immigrated to the United States in 1954, and had been a Temecula resident since 1998. Prior to her retirement, Mary had been employed as a trimmer in Quality Control for Family Fashions in California for several years. She was previously employed at the former Rennie Curtain Company in Taunton for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, watching television and spending time with her family, especially her grandson.
She leaves: 1 daughter: Linda Mena of Temecula; 4 brothers: Antonio deFreitas of Calif., Mario and Joseph DeFreitas, both of Florida, and Ted Freitas of Taunton; 3 sisters: Lucy Rebello of East Taunton, Maria Freitas and Maria Paquette, both of Taunton; 4 grandchildren: Jacob, Brittany, Solomon and Zachary Mena, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also the mother of the late Mario deAguiar, and the sister of the late Jose DeFreitas, Maria Goulet, and Joseph N. Freitas.
A Graveside Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E.Britannia St., Taunton, on Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 A.M. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
