David Nathaniel Joiner, age 61, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Hosea Lee and Maurine Carothers Joiner. David worked as a Set-up Technician for Borg-Warner where he was employed for the past 41 years. He was a member of Pleasant Green MB Church, a member of the Bynum Volunteer Fire Department and Bynum Community Center. David was a sports enthusiast, an avid fan of Philadelphia Eagles, South Panola Tigers and the Memphis Grizzlies. He enjoyed tending his cows and animals, farming, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bayson Chapel Church in Water Valley, MS with Rev. Preston Gleaton and Rev. Amos Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Old Providence Cemetery in Panola County, MS with Anthony Joiner, Curtis Adams, Alvin Joiner, Johnny Woodard, James Adams, Tracey Adams, Jermain Copeland and Billy Carothers serving as pallbearers. Clyde Mitchell, Leslie Woodard, Lee Morgan, Winfred Morgan, Richard Carothers, I.B. Robinson, Leslie Bishop, Dovis Shaw, Fred Copeland, Gene Robinson and Wesley Kerr will serve as honorary pallbearers.
David is survived by his wife, Brenda Kerr Joiner of Water Valley, MS; his daughters, Tiffany Joiner of Birmingham, AL, and Alicia Joiner of Shreveport, LA; his sisters, Loraine Williams of New Orleans, LA, Kate Adams of Water Valley, MS and Earnestine Copeland (Fred) of Lakeland, FL; his brother, Roy Jones (Betty) of Oxford, MS; and two god-grandchildren, Laura Mitchell and Mitchell Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorette Webb and two brothers, Verdia Lee Joiner and Alvin Joiner.
