Calvin C. Hogan, 86, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Taylor and the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the Englewood Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Hogan was born September 19, 1927 in Irwin County, Georgia to the late John Archie and Essie Truelove Hogan. He farmed until he was 25 years old, then began a career as a general contractor building houses and cabinets in the area. Mr. Hogan was a loving husband, father and grandfather who honored his children by building them each their own house. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Hellon Hogan of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Tony Calvin & Anita Hogan, Jennifer & Emory Cheek, Jr. and Wanda & Keith Ashton, all of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren: Amber Hogan, Cal Cheek, Kristina Ashton and Amanda C. McBryant; great-grandchild: Rylan Cheek and two sisters and their spouses: Eva & Max Strozier and Reba & Bobby Farmer all of Atlanta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters.
