Obituary

John P. “Jack” Long, age 64 of Brockton, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 12, 2014 after ongoing health problems. Jack was the loving husband for 42 years of Jeanette (Meaden) Long. He was born and raised in Weymouth, son of Chet “Pop” Rudzinkski of Marlboro and the late Elunde (Grant) Rudzinski. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1995 he retired from Mupac in Brockton and previously worked at Weymouth Auto Body for many years.

Jack played hockey in his youth and loved the Bruins. He was passionate about fishing and enjoyed trips to Moosehead Lake in Maine. He was a member of the Enterprise Club in Brockton and the Eagles Club in Weymouth. Jack was most proud of his daughter and son and loved his grandchildren dearly. Behind his hard side he possessed a soft heart. He was greatly loved and will be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children Joseph Pierce of Brockton, LaRae Bettencourt and her husband Craig of New Hampshire and Tanya Long of Weymouth; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his sister Patricia Walsh and her husband Rick and their two daughters.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-8pm. Funeral Service Friday in the funeral home at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made in Jack’s name to Four Paws International, 14 Beacon St. #706, Boston, MA 02108.
