Obituary


Emil F. Hogya, 89, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, May 10th, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Emil was born in Fairport Harbor, Ohio on February 5, 1925 the son of the late Frank and Justine (Simko) Hogya. Emil attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Ohio where from there Emil proudly joined the Navy at a young age, serving in World War II. Emil was a survivor of the USS Joseph Hewes attack and later assigned to the USS KNAP-DD653 where he served in such places as Pearl Harbor receiving numerous ribbons and stars for his service. Emil was especially proud of being a veteran of the US Navy and his service. Emil then resided in Lawrence, Massachusetts after meeting his loving late wife of 64 years, Dorothy Ruffen Hogya whom passed in 2013, while raising their family. Emil also proudly worked for Raytheon for many years. While raising his family in Lawrence, Emil and Dorothy were proud members of Sacred Hearts Church until its closing and later became members of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Derry, NH.
Emil always enjoyed spending time with his family. Emil always enjoyed the family vacations with his daughter Audrey and her family. Many memories as a family were had on Florida vacations, at the beach the traveling for his grandchildren’s sporting events. Emil in more recent years had been residing with is daughter Audrey, and many more proud memories and moments were able to be shared. Emil lived life to the fullest right until his last day with us. Emil enjoyed watching his great-granddaughters play basketball. He never missed a game, home or away and was acknowledged at an awards night as the teams “biggest fan”. Emil enjoyed many rides in the car with is daughter and going out to restaurants or maybe just a ride to the beach. Emil loved his late wife of 64 years Dorothy, his daughter Audrey and her husband Kevin and adored his three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Emil, predeceased by his wife of 64 years Dorothy Ruffen Hogya, leaves behind a daughter Audrey L. Todd and her husband Kevin of Derry, NH. Three Grandchildren Melanie Beauchesne and her husband Norman of Derry, NH, Brian M. Todd of Derry, NH and Shaun W. Todd and his wife, Sarah of Newburyport.
He also leaves behind Eight Great Grandchildren Alysha, Aubrie and Alison Beauchesne, Colton, Dalton and Logan Todd, Cameron and Charles Todd.
Emil also leaves behind sister Margaret Turchik of Fairport, Ohio
Emil was also predeceased in life by his son, Jeffery Hogya whom passed away shortly after birth. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Frank, John, Emery, Peter and Brother Andrew F. Hogya, S.S.J.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at 12:00 noon in Saint Thomas Aquinas in Derry, New Hampshire.
