Obituary

Richard P. Rieger, 61 formerly of Walpole and Bellingham, died May 11 in the Golden Living Center in Attleboro following a long illness.
Born in Boston, November 15, 1952, the son of the late Otto J. and Winifred (DeCost) Rieger, Mr. Rieger was raised and had lived in Walpole for many years before moving to Bellingham.
Mr. Rieger had been a corrections officer at M.C. I. Norfolk and had worked for Coyle’s Auctioneers.
Richard enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, waterskiing and antique collecting.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War era.
He is survived by his children, Kim Salamone of Attleboro, Janae Rieger of Blackstone and Craig Rieger of Ayer.
He is also survived by his siblings, Otto “Butch” Rieger of Framingham, Winifred “Cookie” Moore of North Attleboro, and Renette Rieger of Walpole. He was the bother of the late Norma Rieger, Rosemary MacDonald and Leah Levasseur.
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
His memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 17 in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will follow in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
