Patricia L. Alves, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Golden Crest Home in North Providence. She was the beloved sister of Joan F. Taylor of Smithfield, RI.
Born in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Manuel and Anna (McGuinn) Alves. She had lived in Providence and had previously lived in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Patricia had been an Actuary for the J & H Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA before retiring. Patricia was diagnosed with MS but she did not change how she lived. She traveled to Ireland and loved to share her story of kissing the Blarney Stone. She loved to take cruises with her sister and enjoyed her weekend visits to New York City to see Broadway Musicals. She was active with the MS Society and shared her sense of humor while battling MS.
Patricia had been a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1961 and will be sadly missed by her SMAV classmates Diane, Gerry and Betty who made her days brighter with their visits and never forgetting her birthday.
She also leaves her niece, Kathleen Burns of Wakefield and 2 nephews, Robert Taylor of North Providence and Scott Taylor of Huntington, NY and her great niece, Victoria Burns and great nephew, Robert Burns.
Her Funeral will be held Tuesday May 13th at 9:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10am officiated by Father Eugene McKenna to welcome Patti home will be in St. Mary Church, 538 Broadway, Providence, RI 02909. Visitation Tuesday 8:30am to 9:30am.
