Tyrell Jr. and his wife Susan of Winthrop, David C. Tyrell II of Wakefield and Jennifer T. Walter and her husband Richard of Wakefield. Adored grandfather of Nathan, Abigail, and Emily Tyrell, Matthew Walter, and the late Geoffrey Walter and Daniel Thibodeau. Dear brother of David C. Tyrell of Wakefield, Donald J. Tyrell of TN, Jane M. Hartney of Peabody, Sr. David Mary Tyrell ,osf of Allegany, NY, and the late John A. Tyrell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Weds, May 14, at 10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tues only from 2-4 and 7-9pm. He was a professor of English at Boston State College for 40 years where he served as the Chairman of the English Dept., and Worcester State College for 12 years where he was Professor Emeritus. He was a graduate of Boston College High School and Boston College. He was also a member of the Clover Club of Boston, the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Assn., a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club where he enjoyed playing in the Men’s Bowling League and was a Trustee of the Winthrop Public Library for many years.
