Carmine “Guido" Del Vicario, 91, of Johnston, went home to our heavenly Father and his beloved wife Evelyn on May 9th, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Providence He was the loving husband of the late Evelyn (Caruso) Lombari Del Vicario
Born in Providence, a son of the late Castonzo and Maria (Roberto) Del Vicario. He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Angelina, Ralph and Nickolas Del Vicario and Anna Calitri and Philomenia Riccardi.
Guido is survived by his 3 children; Joseph Lombari, and his wife Pamela, Michael Lombari, and his late wife Lois, and James Lombari and his wife Alyce. Guido was the dearest grandfather of 6 grandchildren; Mark Lombari, Stephen Lombari, Sherri (Lombari) Chippendale, Eric Lombari, Jennifer Lombari and James Lombari, as well as 6 great-grandchildren; Marissa Lombari, Michela Lombari, Paige Chippendale, Madison Lombari, Séighín Chippendale, and Antonio Lombari
A commercial and residential painter, Guido retired in 1972. He was raised in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence, RI, and from 1942 to 1945 Guido served in the United States Merchant Marines, the US Coast Guard, and the US Navy in the Pacific Theater. While honorably serving our nation on the SS Henry Barnard, the SS Reverdy Johnson, the SS Oran M. Roberts he survived countless Kamikaze attacks Guido earned the Mediterranean Middle East War Zone Bar, the Atlantic War Zone Bar and the Merchant Marine Combat Bar.
Funeral Wednesday at 10:30am from Anderson Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44, at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am in at Saint Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 9:30-10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Guido may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02140.
