Obituary

Adeline “Addie” (Ignatuk) Rowe passed away peacefully on May 2, 2014, at her residence in StoneRidge, Mystic.

She was married to Robert “Bob” Rowe, (deceased April 26, 2012).

She is survived by her sons, Rodger Rowe of West Palm Beach, Fla., Dick Rowe of Niceville, Fla., Fred Rowe of Vancouver, Wash.; and her daughter, Betsy Rowe of Old Mystic, and their families.

Addie was born June 16, 1924, in Englewood, N.J., to Russian immigrant parents, Sawa “Sam” and Katherine Ignatuk. She attended local schools until graduating in1945 from the Englewood Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She and Bob married in 1946, shortly before Bob completed his service with the U.S. Army. They moved more than ten times in the following years while raising their family. Addie worked as a nurse, a realtor, and a loving mother.

Bob and Addie finally settled in at Mason’s Island in 1962 where they resided until 2012. Addie loved gardening, sailing, being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. They both enjoyed the exceptional friendship of many longterm and recent neighbors throughout the area. Addie was well known for her kindness and generosity, but above all, for her vivacious and adventurous spirit. She loved to entertain friends and embraced new acquaintances. She could be out spoken, and to the point, but always caring and loving.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Mason's Island Yacht Club.
