Obituary

Alwyn M Holbrook, 78 of Whitman died on Thursday May 8th in the Radius Specialty Hospital in Quincy, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Elizabeth J. (Redden) Holbrook.

He was born in Brockton, son of the late Stanley N. and Gertrude (Mahan) Holbrook.

Alwyn was a longtime resident of Whitman and attended Whitman schools. He worked for S.N. Holbrook and Sons, L.W. Holbrook Construction and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired after 32 years in the U.S. Naval reserve CB-12 as a Builder Chief.

Alwyn enjoyed traveling, bowling, sports and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife Elizabeth, he leaves a loving son and daughter Craig Holbrook and his wife Rosemary of East Bridgewater, Lori E. (Lewis) Holbrook of Brockton and four grandchildren, Johnny, Mara, Thomas and Victoria; also many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of the late Keith, Leslie, Frederick and Malcolm Holbrook.


Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday May 13th from 5:00-8:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman. His funeral service will be private by request of the family. His interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Weymouth. In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509,New York, NY 10018
