Ray E. Harper, 81, of Wray, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Monday, May 12, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Harper was born June 1, 1932 in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Lauris and Rosa Lee Griffin Harper. He lived in the community most of his life. He was a former diesel mechanic for Young Tractor Company and Ford Motor Company. He also farmed and was a bus driver for the Irwin County School System. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Rendal & Yolanda Harper of Wray, Sabrina Rhodes of Wray, Phillip & Rita Harper of Plains, and Gala & Raymond Way of Wray; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Peggy Tucker of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and two brothers: Lamar & Wanda Harper of Douglas and Gerald Harper of Wray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Ethel Roberson Harper and a brother: Steve Harper.
