John Tindell Thomas, age 51, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Tallahassee, FL as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born January 17, 1963 in Oxford, MS to the late John Roy and Peggy McCord Thomas. A great truck driver and an avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. He was a great cook and loved to barbeque. John was a loving husband, father and Papaw and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS with Sam Phillips, Larry Bing, Johnny Britt, Ricky Vanlandingham “R.V.”, Davin Ward, Josh Bing and Cody Appleton serving as pallbearers. Wesley Thomas will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
John is survived by his wife, Sherry Thomas of Oxford, MS; his son, John Wesley Thomas and wife, Samantha of Water Valley, MS; his daughter, Brittney Thomas Bing and husband, Josh of Oxford, MS; step-daughter, Sissy Potts and step-son, Christopher Potts, Jr. and wife, Candice all of Oxford, MS; his brother, Kenny Thomas of Grenada, MS; two sisters, Terrie Thomas Johnson of Water Valley, MS, and Loritta Hawkins of Oxford, MS; five grandchildren, Hunter Bing, Landon Bing, Madyson Thomas, Alyssa Potts and Olivia Coleman; seven nephews and four nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents Chesley and Q'Bell Thomas; and maternal grandparents Audley and Lucille McCord.
