Jack A. Ferreira, age 66, passed away on May 6, 2014 at Wingate of West Springfield. He was born on Jan. 23, 1948 in Holyoke, a son of the late Francisco and Conceicao (Maria) Ferreira. Jack was a decorated Navy veteran who did a tour of duty in 1967 aboard the U.S.S. Eaton/DD510 and spent 11 months in Vietnam during the war. He later worked as a welding supply salesman for 28 years before he retired. He loved deep sea fishing, was an avid Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Nascar fan. He was a member of the American Legion and was past commander of Post 337. He was a communicant of St Rose de Lima Church. He leaves his brother Robert Ferreira and his wife Denise of Spencer, MA, his sister Joanne Devins of Spencer, MA along with his nephews Jason and Jeremy and one niece Tessa. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 8:00-9:00 a.m at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee with a Mass of Christian burial in St Rose de Lima Church at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7295.
